Charleston Symphony Orchestra Suspends Operations

The Board of Directors of our parent organization, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra has decided to suspend its orchestral operations for the remainder of the 2009-2010 season.

This decision does not affect the CSO Spiritual Ensemble's concert schedule. Our three concert performances for the remainder of the season will occur as scheduled. The Ensemble continues to operate as an affiliate organization reporting to the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.

Unfortunately, many corporate entities during these difficult economic times find themselves in need of restructuring. The Ensemble will follow standard corporate affiliate protocol and continue to operate under the umbrella of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.

Spiritual Masterworks Rescheduled

Due to inclement weather conditions (coastal South Carolina expecting snow for the first time since 1989), our February 12 performance of Spiritual Masterworks has been rescheduled for March 5, 7:30pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Johns Island.

Spring Season Auditions

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Spiritual Ensemble is seeking new volunteer members. 

The CSO Spiritual Ensemble directed by Nathan L. Nelson is a 35 member vocal group focusing on African-American Spirituals. The CSO Spiritual Ensemble voice assessment is Saturday, January 2 at 11am and again at 1pm at Circular Congregational Church, 150 Meeting Street, downtown Charleston. Come prepared to sing individually and in a choral setting.

The CSO Spiritual Ensemble will be preparing for its 2nd anniversary concert Moses: Let My People Go, a tribute to renowned Composer and Arrange, Moses G. Hogan. (Saturday, February 6) and its 2010 Piccolo Spoleto Concert Saturday, June 5,  at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5pm, in addition to events including performances on Johns Island and the Town of Mt. Pleasant.

Rehearsals are each Monday evening at Circular Congregational Church beginning Monday, January 4, 2010.
